It started with a packet of seeds.

Flowers have been my passion since I was young. Raised in a family of vegetable gardeners, I remember choosing seed packets from the farm store each spring. My mom expected me to choose a vegetable but I was drawn to the colorful flower packets. The anticipation of the flowers blooming, all that color and fragrance in the garden, was so thrilling to me!

Over the years, my career choices have brought me back to flowers many times. I’ve worked for a perennial flower grower, designing their catalogue and garden shows. Later, I sold bouquets of flowers at local farmers markets. Now, I am a floral designer for weddings with Country Bouquets Floral.

We’ve been in our current house for 20 plus years, in the fertile farm lands of Skagit Valley in Washington state. A former dairy farm, I created my first flower bed before the foundation was poured for our house. Though I’ve been gardening for most of my life, I am still learning new things each year. Luckily, I have a lot of flower grower friends to help me!

Now my gardens are filled with my favorite flowers and herbs. No matter the season, there is something blooming. Most days you can find me puttering around in the gardens, ignoring the weeds and smelling the flowers!
